What’s Equine Affaire?
Equine Affaire draws tens of thousands of horse enthusiasts for four days of education, breed displays, clinics with top instructors, and the largest equine-related trade show on the East Coast. Located 2-hours from Boston, this event provides a huge opportunity to increase the awareness of the versatile Canadian Horse to a large population of riders from all disciplines.
Throughout the event, attendees will be able to visit the CHHAPS booth in the Breed Pavilion where members can answer questions about the Little Iron Horse, distribute breed information, and sell CHHAPS calendars. Visitors can also learn more about the breed’s history during the Equine Fundamentals Forum and see Canadians in action during the Breed Demo. There will also be a CHHAPS Horse & Farm Exhibit in the C-barn where visitors can meet any Canadian Horse ambassadors stabled here throughout the event.
How Can I Get Involved?
Last year, Equine Affaire provided a great opportunity for many CHHAPS members to gather and enjoy a great time educating others about the breed. “Being an effective volunteer came naturally for everyone,” said co-coordinator, Liz Piacentini. “Those who participated were passionate about the Canadian Horse and that enthusiasm clearly came through to attendees”.
We’re hoping to see CHHAPS memberships in New England grow further as more Canadian lovers get involved with this heritage breed. Whether you ride or drive, show or trail ride, if you’re a New England Canadian Horse lover who wants to get involved, please visit our membership page. To get involved as an on-site volunteer or demo rider, contact Liz Piacentini, CHHAPS Eastern US Liaison at equestrianliz@comcast.net.
Sponsorship and Visibility
As usual, any members of the Canadian Horse Heritage & Preservation Society with horses for sale or stallions at stud are welcome to provide sales material and business cards to be displayed and/or handed out at the booth. Breeders or individuals with Canadian Horses for sale or stallions at stud who are not CHHAPS members, but would like to provide sales literature and/or business cards to be made available to visitors at the booth, are welcome to become Booth Sponsors for a contribution of $50.
Because CHHAPS is a relatively small non-profit organization with a correspondingly small budget, we can only sponsor a portion of the cost. If any Canadian Horse fans would like to contribute toward the cost of the booth at the Equine Affaire, there are two ways you can do so:
- Join CHHAPS. An annual membership is only $35, and it’s from our membership fees that we’re able to cover the costs of promoting the Canadian Horse at fairs and online. Large events like Equine Affaire charge several hundred dollars for even a small booth. Every membership is appreciated!
- Click the “DONATE” button below. Many small donations can add up to significant financial help! Every amount donated in this way will go toward paying for the booth, shipping Canadian Horse calendars, creating an attractive and informative display, and printing promotional handouts like the CHHAPS rack cards.
You can donate in either US or Canadian funds. Anyone making a donation of $25 or more who would like their name and/or farm name mentioned in online and print acknowledgements, or if you are donating $50 or more and want to be a Booth Sponsor, please fill out the form below to provide your contact details.
If you’re in New England, make sure to come watch the demo and visit the CHHAPS booth at Equine Affaire this November!
