CHHAPS AWARDS PROGRAMS

CHHAPS is proud to offer two unique Award Program options for both pure and part-bred Canadian Horses. Currently, we are the only Canadian Horse organization offering awards programs like these. The Versatility Awards program rewards a horse for being versatile in a wide variety of disciplines and settings. It is not performance based. The Performance Awards recognizes a horse’s performance purely in competition. For more information on each program, see below. Of note, a horse may belong to either or both programs.

Versatility Award

Are you someone who loves to go to new places and do new things with your horse? Is your pure or part-bred Canadian Horse a great “breed ambassador” who happily hops into the trailer, eager for the next adventure? Say for example, a trail ride today, a parade tomorrow, a visit to a nursing home or school next week, and a County Fair next month?

If you have a versatile horse with many aptitudes and abilities, and which pivots with ease from one activity or discipline to another, this is the program for you!

Our Versatility Award Program is designed to acknowledge and showcase a horse’s participation in a wealth of different activities. Not just those inside the show ring, but pretty much anywhere/everywhere else too. The emphasis is on participation and versatility, not competition or performance.

The Canadian Horse Heritage and Preservation Society wishes to recognize and award both the wide spectrum of capabilities of our member’s horses, as well as their contribution to breed promotion. We feel it is so important to reward those who are valuable ambassadors of the Canadian Horse breed!

For program details, check out the CHHAPS Versatility Award Overview & Point System link below. This gives you examples of all the activities that can earn points, shows the award levels, and reviews the program’s rules.

If you decide this program is for you, please join in the fun. Start racking up points and winning your own beautiful customized medals with your pure or part-bred Canadian Horse today!

NOTE: Points continue to accumulate for the life of the horse even if horse is transferred or sold, as long as the horse’s current owner is a CHHAPS member.

Performance Award

While Canadian Horses are known for their versatility and family-horse nature, there are many horses that have also shown and won at the highest levels of various disciplines including dressage, jumping, working equitation, and pleasure/combined driving. These highly trained athletes are amazing breed ambassadors, especially when showing in front of an audience unfamiliar with the breed, or to those who are unused to seeing the Canadian as a Performance Horse option.

To recognize the outstanding show-ring performances of these athletic horses and their dedicated owners, CHHAPS has created an award program based on performance in competition.

If you are a CHHAPS member and owner of a pure or part-bred Canadian currently showing that is either a current or potential performance champion, then this is the program for you!

There are nine different disciplines that qualify to earn points for this program:

  • Halter
  • Dressage
  • Driving
  • Competitive Trail/ Endurance
  • English General Performance
  • Western General Performance
  • Eventing
  • Combined Driving Events
  • Working Equitation

When registering, you have the option of choosing either one single division, or else all of them. If you register for one and later change your mind, no worries, just contact our Awards Program Registrar.

Browse the CHHAPS Performance Award Program Overview & Point System link below for the program details, list of disciplines, award points determination, and further rules and requirements.
